Um, so let me get this straight:

Recent Grads - Class of 2010: normal OCI + 2L SA, beginning of ITE full-time offers - bad NJL250 numbers
Current 3Ls - Class of 2011: beginning of ITE OCI + 2L SA, full-on ITE full-time offers - horrible NJL250 numbers
Current 2Ls - Class of 2012: full-on ITE OCI + 2L SA, recovering ITE full-time offers - horrible/bad NJL250 numbers
Current 1Ls - Class of 2013: (will have) recovering OCI + 2L SA, (will have) even more recovered full-time offers - better NJL250 numbers
Current 0Ls - Class of 2014: (will have) even more recovered OCI + 2L SA, (will have) somewhat normalized full-time offers - better NJL250 numbers

Sure, the legal hiring model might have changed forever, and nobody knows what the economy will be like in 2012, 2013, and 2014, but is it safe to assume things will get at least slightly better than the class of 2010 and 2011? Perhaps not quite back to Class of 2007, 2008 modes, but just better? Please?

As you might have assumed, I'm a 0L trying to justify my decision to go to law school right now, because if I should expect these types of numbers when going through OCI, SAs, and full-time offers, I'm not sure I'd go. Thoughts?

True results for ITE won't come until we have employment numbers for OCI 2009 (Class of 2011). You must keep this in mind, though: us 0L's do not have that much time for the economy to stop sucking massive d**k. Our OCI is in 18 months, not 3 years.

This. The Class of 2010 NLJ250 numbers are sort of useless because they reflect New York offices no-offering a ton of people while other markets didn't need to as much. Now, New York is doing a lot better than other markets, and firms have learned to cut SA classes in order to improve offer rates, so we need Class of 2011 data to see what hiring is really like.

I would guess that hiring will stay the same as Class of 2012's hiring, or improve only slightly, and that if there's any improvement, it will be focused on NYC and DC, while other markets will continue spiraling downward. This is just my guess though, and I'm partially basing this off of firms permanently withdrawing from certain markets.

OP: I'm a 2L who has been following since stuff closely since before the crash in '08, and AFAIK your timing is spot on.

We have every reason to believe c/o 2011 was hit hardest, but c/o 2010 might give them a run for the money depending on what schools fed heavily into the firms who no-offered a lot of people.

Also, keep in mind that these stats don't include layoffs. Latham (and many others) laid off dozens of young associates, and those lost jobs would not be reflected in any of the these surveys. So the people who were working at big firms in 2008 (c/o 2008) may have waltzed INTO the jobs, but saw them become increasingly hard to hang on to.
