OMG a lot of the top 10 is under 50 percent now. I remember when I first began looking at law schools every top 10 had at least 50 percent of the class in nlj 250--Columbia used to have 70+ percent.....this is really getting bad. Look what happened to Duke!!!! 38 percent

And here I was thinking that things were on the up and up... My naive 0L optimism has been shattered.

But isn't the class of 2010 considered the lost generation. Aren't they supposed to be the ones that experienced ITE the worst? Is this really that surprising?

No, class of 2011 is the lost generation.

I guess its a pretty accurate statement to say that, if you want a large firm, BU and BC really are among the very best choices outside the T14. Their numbers barely dropped at all from last year's list. The class of 2011 figures next year will be a bloodbath, but people need to remember that these numbers are historical records by the time we see them. They aren't indications of how things currently are or what the trend is.

Guess I'm going to be among the few who are pleasantly surprised by these figures. But again, I don't think people should worry or be flustered by it. This has no reflection on how things will be for class of 2013 and beyond.

This is what I don't get. The survey says 27.3% of class of 2010 landed a NLJ 250 firm. But all schools outside of the t19 on this list place less than 27.3%. Does this make any sense?

I think they meant 27.3% of top 50 grads but just fucked it up.

Didn't this class interview in late summer 2008? That's when companies were posting several billion dollars in quarterly losses and Lehman went bankrupt mid-September. I would think these numbers would reflect the meltdown as major institutions were bankrupting during call back season? Maybe I'm wrong...either way law school is a tough place to be

This isnt awful news for an 0L like me. Iowa is probably the school that I'll be attending and top 10-15% is pretty much what I expected for biglaw.
Edit: Chance at biglaw. 10-15% might be generous.

BU/BC > USC/Vand/UT is surprising... with UCLA breaking about the UT/Vand/UCLA group. Of course, this doesn't account for clerkships which would push Vand/UT above BU/BC, but this is surprising.

Lol, now the BC homers have some extra ammo. They will fight tooth and nail over their additional 3.58%

The text above the chart mentions the 'Firm Favorites' list (the school from which each firm hires the most grads), but there's no link to it. Or am I just being blinded by the awful numbers in the Go-To Schools list?

Class of 2010, Summer Associates of 2009, OCI of 2008 had a strong OCI (Lehman blew up after most schools were done) but got hit by awful offer rates (i.e. many people got summer positions than did not receive full time employment offers). Because this survey is of first year associates from the class of 2010, you see the particularly pronounced effect of no-offers.
Class of 2011, Summer Associates of 2010, OCI of 2009 is the true lost generation. That's when many firms canceled summer programs or at least scaled them back, and it became very hard to even get a foot in the door.
Class of 2012, i.e. current 2Ls, had a bad but not quite as cataclysmic OCI.
