Not necessarily. Or, I guess necessarily, but no more than most. v100 work sounds god awful stressful and people all unwind int heir own ways. I throw back a couple gallons of beer on the weekend, but I know people who unwind by getting massages, eating nice dinners out, or smoking a little weed. I'm not going to comment on the dubious issue of lawyers willingly and regularly taking part in illegal habits, but it isn't like this question is confined to "druggies" as we typically know them. One of my best friends has a family, is good at his job, and does a few hours of volunteer work throughout the week. He's dependable as a can be and good with money. Every weekend, though, he smokes a little weed. If his job drug tested, it would be over for him, despite the fact that he's never done it while working, or let it get in the way of his work. In fact, he probably spends as much on weed in a year as I do in a couple weekends at the bars.

I would think they'll conduct a drug test before you start; but after that, then you're good. Except, perhaps, if you're super erratic or you do weird things like suddenly bursting into break dances or back flips.

Don't troll. Nobody cares what your opinion about pot is. A'nold is spared the rod because he's a long time poster who generally contributes, but anyone else who feels the need to fill this thread up with their opinions about drugs/people who use drugs/etc. is going to get some time off.

Is this based on any first hand knowledge, or is this blind conjecture?

It seems absurd to test professionals in a high skill/high stress/high responsibility job like biglaw for drugs, not to mention insulting.

Certain in-house positions may also require it (I had to get tested).

Haha, sorry. I actually have no problem w/ people smoking weed, I was just joshing the op.

if you read threads on xoxo about this, know that they are all joking. firms don't drug test

If you are a better lawyer while coked up, the partners don't want to know. Just gets to billing, and don't get arrested.
