where to find good mid-sized firms

that stress high quality of life

would like to make money
but don't need 160,000 a year
and want to have a family and enjoy my life...

where 2 find?
is it possible?

No.*

For the most part: (a) attorneys at the entry level are highly compensated because of the amount of time they give up to their job (making QoL and $$$ nearly mutually exclusive) and (b) many firms that DON'T pay mega-bucks salaries STILL require enormous time commitments - meaning that if you miss a biglaw opportunity you might work just as much for half the pay - or just as much for 1/4 the pay.

To the extent 'exceptions' exist it tends to be people who work a lot of hours with objectively poor quality of life for a lot of money, but at least their hours / QoL aren't quite as bad as an NYC entry level corp/lit associate.
