Anyone familiar with this area? What kind of salary do associates make? Doesn't seem like a bad area, but would it allow you any exit options? Thanks for any help.

I imagine it's all based on your locale with a lot of variation between areas. I know in Ohio there's a couple mid-sized firms that do a lot of education law, mainly serving as general counsel for school districts and what not. The firms do other things as well, but they start first-years off in the 90-100k range, which is a shade below the market in Ohio.

Not sure about exit options. Most school districts don't have in-house legal departments and I can't imagine those that do pay well. I have no idea about the non-profit side of it. I'd imagine medium-to-large Charter School management companies probably have at least a GC and likely a small in-house department.
