Quandry...

1L here. So I interviewed for two positions- one with a Fed Dist Court and one with a Fed COA. I accepted the Dist Court position about two weeks ago and now the COA has extended me an offer. I would prefer the COA for several reasons- I would get to live at home for free and it is a bit more prestigious. Is there any way I can get out of my commitment to work with the Dist court? Any creative thinkers???

Three or four sitcom plots come to mind.

it's a 1L job, not a clerkship, prestige will really not matter that much so don't worry about that. but yeah, that sux dude

Yeah, splitting seems to be the best compromise (if even possible...).

You can tactfully ask about splitting, but mostly you're stuck.

(1) You accepted the position.
(2) This is a 1L internship - the relative 'prestige' is minimal.

Dude, check the attitude. Be grateful for the opportunity that you have. Make the most of your summer and learn something.

DC is fine.
You already accepted the first position, so unless they're willing to let you split, you can't really rescind at this point.
