What is a minimum GPA/rank required to get a Federal District Court internship for 1L summer from a T14? Any region (east coast, west coast, south coast); not picky. I am median, is that good enough?

I've had friends below median in schools toward the bottom of the T10 who were able to get such internships.

It all depends on the judge and on your background.

I was hired by a judge in SDNY out of a t30 without grades based on a good resume and a really strong interview but I also worked for 6 years pre-law school and she liked that experience. the other two interns are from H. it all depends on the judge. if you dont have good work experience pre-law school then grades will really be all you have to distinguish yourself unless you have a really strong writing sample or wrote a thesis in undergrad or something.

My resume got me zero calls from a huge number of apps, not even from my home state where they love hometown kids, and I ended up with top 10% grades from a good school (though not quite T14) and still can't get a call. It can be very random apparently.

Got interviews and an offer without grades in NY. Had some grade requests in NY, which I didn't follow up on because I took an offer before grades came out. By way of example, my judge hired me basically because we went to the same undergrad. Some judges treat their internship applications rigorously, some don't.

OP here: Didn't get an offer without grades. What is my hope of getting an offer now that I sent in grades?

I'm in a similar boat. Applied without grades from a T10 to a ton of judges and got nothing but a few grade requests. Got my grades and did quite well (roughly top 10 percent). Updated all my applications and have heard absolutely nothing. So frustrating.

Go to a T2 state school. Know two people at my school with federal judicial internships lined up. Both are very high up in the class (I want to say around top 10%). Both also have WE.
