Where exactly does a 3.5 sit on the curve for your school?snowpeach06 wrote:My interview was awkward. This guy is the most straight laced guy ever. Between 20-25% I think. At least that's what my 2L friend told me. I'd believe it cuse although our curve is a 3.0, there were like 50-60 people on Dean's List, which is a 3.4 and up.mythosopher wrote:Where exactly does a 3.5 sit on the curve for your school?snowpeach06 wrote:My interview was awkward. Got an offer last week with a local firm. So long as I clear the background check, I'm good for the summer and will get to work through 2L year as well. Boom Shaka Laka

Fuck. Got that paying job. And they want an answer by tomorrow. I have my first final tomorrow. I don't want to have to think about this. I wanted to check with the EEOC first as well, perhaps ask them if I could ditch the job.

How good of a paying job is it? And does it have the opportunity for full-time employment?snowpeach06 wrote:Fuck. Got that paying job. And they want an answer by tomorrow. I'm all for ditching jobs if you have to, but don't jump ship if the gains are marginal.

Re: 1L summer job application apathy/encouragement thread
It doesn't pay a lot. He said he thought it was 35 hrs a week - $13/15 an hr. vs. $0. Also the job continues into the next school year. So, while I'd like to make money, I'm concerned about being able to handle a job. It's a small firm, so, I don't know about after graduation employment, but, I don't think I want to stay in this area, so it doesn't matter. The firm does con law, which I find interesting, but, also some boring stuff. He said law clerks don't go to court that much, but they could. Overall, the guy seemed fairly boring, and I get the sens I may not like the job, but I, I may not like the other one either. Who knows.romothesavior wrote:How good of a paying job is it? Congrats
I feel like the last person in my class to have something lined up. I know that's not exactly the case, but I imagine I can count the number of people left out in the cold on one hand.
It was worth it, though, I've got a paying job this summer that could lead to a bonafide SA gig 2L year and I genuinely like the firm.

I don't think I have a week paid vacation- it is 40 minutes each way too...but it will be a good experience and the fact that I even have a job is absolutely amazing to me. Hmm, this is why I'm glad our journals are all written applications. Grades don't matter. Name blind. All that matters is how good your legal writing and analysis is. And in my opinion, that's all that should matter.snowpeach06 wrote:Between 20-25% I think. At least that's what my 2L friend told me.
