Where is the law going?

Just trying to think globally as I consider what law school to attend and what areas of study to explore once I finally get there. From speaking with various attorneys and thinking about what's going on in the world/country these days, it seems like the areas of future growth in the legal market are IP law, healthcare law, and corporate law with an international twist. I've also heard that tax lawyers are always in demand (presumably because most find tax law excruciatingly boring). Any other areas to throw into the mix? Does successfully entering any of these areas require more than getting a JD from a top institution and graduating in the top 25% or better? E.g., does being a marketable tax lawyer require becoming a CPA and/or a LLM in tax?; prima facie, a hard sciences background seems like it would open a lot of doors as far as IP law is concerned, but is it essential?; etc.

I think that environmental law is supposed to be growing. I think there is some sort of exception, but generally to do IP law you must have a hard science degree.

To answer OP's question, I have talked to a few partners in tax areas on various interviews, it does seem if you REALLY want to pursue tax law, an LLM from a good institution would be of some benefit, especially if you didn't graduate from a top school or top of your class to differentiate yourself. That said, this is only the opinion of the couple of people I have talked to. Who really knows.

FTFY.

OP: go to the best law school you can get into/afford, get good grades, feel out what areas of the law you like, and then come back.

Yeah I knew these two were the top, I thought some others were thrown in the mix to be legitimate (I heard Florida?).

But... But I try so hard, make jokes, and am sociable... I just have one question... Wigh?!

Thanks for the answers guys. Seems like LLMs are pretty worthless with the possible exception of one in tax.
