I haven't yet. Just wondering when we're supposed to hear something.

You're not going to hear anything from them until around January-February most likely.

I haven't yet...my callback and acceptance were mid-September. I know a few students who have received the final roster of summer associates, etc. with "gifts"... but nothing yet from my firm.

Same as above - nothing other than congratulatory emails from interviewers.
I'm sure you can call the firm's recruiting office if you're worried about it...

I was told January, and have not heard a peep since. Im just curious if they will have any recommendations for housing/apartments/etc for the 10 week summer, or if I am 100% on my own (coming from boston to NY).

You could call and ask. My firm said they would provide us with information about housing suggestions, etc... closer to Jan/Feb. I know of some firms that recommend NYU, Cooper Union, etc...summer housing plans, FWIW.

NYU is highly credited. They have nice dorms that are stupidly close to midtown and the financial district. I don't know if Columbia runs a similar plan but if you don't mind the travel and brown people, their dorms are very very nice.

NYU is actually not credited. The price you pay for the space you get makes it a terrible deal. Yes, if you don't want to do a lot of legwork, NYU is an easy choice. But you can get significantly better deals. Or, for the same price, you can get a better place.
Columbia is an excellent deal, but if I'm not mistaken, the subsidized rents are available only to Columbia Students.

Columbia law students sublet themselves... the only stuff Columbia (University) itself sublets kinda sucks. Just use the NALP directory.

What type of rent are we looking at for these places?

last year people were anywhere from 800ish for 1BR in 3BR to 1500ish for a studio. Not close to midtown/dt, and not in the coolest neighborhood, but less likely to get sketch roommates and sublettors (vs. CL), and they're furnished.
edit: crap, accidental anon

ftfy.
I wouldn't call the Village "stupidly close" to midtown or financial district. In rush hour, you're looking at a 25-30 min subway ride uptown, and about the same downtown. And it's not walkable, unless you enjoy 1.5 miles hikes in NYC summer heat. Granted, you can live farther away from midtown/FD than NYU, but it's not even close to "stupidly close."

For those out-of-state -- How are you guys looking for housing? Will you view the apartment in person before signing a sublease? I am a couple-hour flight away from NYC and am wondering if it is worth it to fly there to look for housing.
