Has anyone gotten any offers or rejections yet, especially in the Civil or Civil Rights Division?

What is the difference between DoJ Honors and DoJ SLIP? Do you need to do a summer with DoJ SLIP to enter into Honors? Or do most Honors participants do it because they didn't get into SLIP?

SLIP is for 2Ls and Honors is for 3Ls. Honors is the path to permanent employment at the DOJ. You don't have to do SLIP first, but I'm sure it could help to get Honors.

Also, how in the world did this thread not exist before now?

Got a rejection a while ago (at least a good couple weeks ago).

I had my interview last week (not for Civil or Civil Rights). The Avue site under the Community tab says we should hear whether we're a finalist or not before Thanksgiving. I haven't heard of anyone getting offers yet, but apparently some people have had their references called.

Was this after your interview?

Does anyone know if getting another job offer would make them speed up the process? There's a possibility I'll get an offer from a place I want less some time around Nov 17th. Should I go for the interview with them, and then call DOJ, or do you think DOJ won't care and I just have to wait it out? Thanks!

Being that is the DOJ, I highly doubt you will be able to pressure them into making you an offer any sooner. I mean it is the DOJ, not some schmuck law firm.

I am so anxious too! I check for status updates like 4 times a day--even though I know we're not supposed to hear anything until late next week, and I don't even know if they'll do another status update.

Does anyone know if offers come via phone call or some other method? I just want to know if I should freak out every time my phone rings.

Do you all happen to know whether EOIR is going to wait until they issue Honors decisions before giving out SLIP offers? I'm a EOIR finalist for SLIP but haven't heard anything from them yet.

Also, to the above poster, does "late next week" mean this coming week?

As to the "late next week" thing--yes, I meant that this coming week, sorry! Nov. 17-20th is when the "key dates" thing says we (DOJ Honors people not SLIP) should be finding out if we're finalists. Apparently, first round offers will also be before Thanksgiving, so I guess that's early next week.

My status on Avue shows "Selected as Finalist" now! I interviewed with EOIR. Based on the community forums though - I don't think this distinguishes whether this means I am a first-round offer or an alternative. Either way - amazing news and I am absolutely freaking out.

Grats! Be sure to update the thread if you get an offer.

I just checked my Avue status and it has also changed to "Selected as Finalist" for Antitrust (the only division I interviewed with). But this is what I found out about that - It means you have been approved for an offer. However (and this is the annoying part) they approve more people for offers than there are open jobs. So you may very well be on a wait list. In which case, you won't get an offer unless others decline.

Has anyone had a status change for Civil Div besides tax (i.e. CL, Torts, FP) ?

I had an interview with the UST--status remains stuck at "Selected for Interview" :( Did your status change?

Nope, nada.

Also interviewed with UST. Still says "selected for interview". Since non-finalists will receive notices when selections go out, it seems likely no one has been designated yet.
