I think I have bad credit

If you aren't sure why don't you just get a credit report? At least to make sure it's accurate. As long as you haven't been seriously defaulting / a serial bankruptor I think you'll be fine.

Dood, you are a jackass. I'm calling bullshit on that 700 score credit requirement. I know several junior associates in big law with not so great credit scores. Maybe some firms are that picky, but most aren't. Additionally, 700 is a fairly high credit score. Firms are not worried about someone with mediocre credit.

Did your TRUSTED SOURCE not explain that the raw credit score is 1 variable of many they examine?

A weak score due to 1 late payment and a lack of credit history will probably not be a huge deal. A weak score due to consistently defaulting, bankruptcy or a habit of very late payments is a different story.

Exactly. A consistent pattern of irresponsibility could be a problem. A blemish here or there? Not so much.

The stress levels on these types of threads is unreal. Seriously guys/gals, stop worrying so much about the small minutia. Be happy if you have an offer. I agree with all the above posters that consistent poor behavior could result in negative ramifications, but everyone makes mistakes - I think one slip up is not going to result in your career being over. Seriously, take a breath, relax, and roll with the punches. Best advice, IF they ask about such things, just be completely forthright and never lie, period.
