Has anyone heard any news from the FTC's Bureau of Competition? Last I had heard, they were still in the process of interviewing. Has anyone received an offer?

Haven't heard a thing after CB. Given that the deadline for applications was 9/15, I wouldn't be surprised if they were still interviewing. Based on past years, it seems like offers are extended in late October/early November at the earliest. Perhaps it might be quicker this year with the compressed NALP guideline?

I also know that their budget has not been approved for next year. A friend of mine had an initial screening interview very recently.

Got an offer on Friday! Had my callback about three weeks ago.

Can anyone fill me in on what kind of background and stats are needed for FTC competition or DOJ antitrust div.? Haven't even gotten into school yet, but I am very interested in this.

Is there a big advantage to going to a school like Chicago over someplace like Michigan if this is one of your career targets?

They do rolling offers a la law firms. I'm sure they will be giving out more. I don't know if there's a common background but all the people i've interviewed with went to top schools and generally had a few years of firm experience (except for 1 who entered through their summer program). I think having an econ background is the most important thing that will set you apart.

Hey! I interviewed about three weeks ago and received an offer on Friday as well.

I don't have an economics or business background but they definitely asked about it during my callback and all of their materials say that it helps.

To those with offers, could you PM me more details about the offer, about the timeline (from oci to callback to offer), and about what you think may have landed you the offer?

May I ask what kind of schools those of you that got callbacks are attending (T14, T30, etc)?

At my T-14, quite a few people seem to have had callbacks. But as OCI taught us, callbacks =/= offers, so we'll see.

This is somewhat off topic, but still related. I am planning on applying to Bureau of Competition's 1L internship. Does anyone know who we can address our cover letters to? Their website just gives an email and they haven't responded to my email asking them.

Thanks. Also if anyone knows more about their 1L summer hiring, and wants to share that would be great. (I know it's really competitive but I do have a strong background in what they are looking for).

I addressed mine as "Dear Recruiting Committee:". Your cover letter will be circulated to multiple individuals who will be interviewing you. They also probably haven't responded because, under NALP guidelines, they're not supposed to... not until Dec. 1st.

It's great that you're applying, but be aware that the competition is keen. Work experience isn't entirely determinative, nor are grades.
