Recruiter told me that they hire SAs with the intent to offer them, but they don't make offer decisions until September and they are based primarily on the needs of the firm. That being said, I was told of an associate who just started this September from last year's Boston SA class, so it looks like they did take at least one of their class. I was also given tips about making connections and building relationships in the practice area you are interested in, because often, if those people like you enough, they will pull for you and make room for you.

If they started this year then they were from the summer of 2009...not 2010.

As of last week one SA offer has been extended, none accepted.

my friend is the one with the offer and she said she declined it last week... not sure if she's actually done the declining already or still has to get in touch with them.

Ahhh, thank you for the information. Guess that opens it up a bit.

Wait a sec ... didn't accept? I suspect that I might be missing something basic about the legal job market, and not for the first time.
I thought that if you're a 3L, you're either continuing a 2L summer position into a permanent one, or you're fucked. Very limited chances of getting a new gig with a new firm if you received an offer after the 2L summer and your 2L firm was of comparable "prestige".
