taking an offer at a firm that did layoffs vs. a SAFE firm

Has anyone done this?

I'm looking at one firm that had fairly large layoffs, which because of its location, practice, etc, I'd rather work at.

On the other hand, I have an offer from one of the most conservative and safe firms out there - but its in a worse location, and is generally more boring.

Question: Did anyone have reservations about ITE and the firm's track record that tipped the balance in favor of accepting at a safer/more secure firm that you liked less?

Given the next few years of ITE, is it stupid to take a firm that has fired people over one that did not?

Can you tell us the names of the two firms, since you're anonymous? It might help us in evaluating - b/c there will be difference in how the firm handles the layoffs, how it's bounced back, deferral dates, how many 3Ls they hired, and other considerations as well....

Nearly every firm had layoffs. It is what it is.

Firms that had layoffs may not need to lay more people off since they already cleaned house. Conversely, those that didn't fire very many people might need to do so in the near future.
