I'm in the DNCG range, not Michigan.

To elaborate on how the lottery system screwed me over, very few of the firms that I was interested in/bid on had separate interviews for their DC/Boston offices. Instead, all the cities were combined into one bid, so I had to compete with people who wanted to get into the firm's NYC office, and there were a lot of those. In fact, the only screeners I got were with those firms who interviewed for DC or Boston separately from other cities...If only there had been more of those!

Also, bidding mostly on the less selective firms probably worsened the situation because DC's reputation as a competitive market may have led other students to also bid conservatively, creating a logjam of students trying to interview with these firms (I'm guessing).
