All of my thank yous have been through e-mail, both for screening and CB. It seems to go over well.

Warning: anecdotal evidence
I didn't write any thank you notes and am 4/4 with TX firms so far.

Likewise. 3/3. I have two more CBs scheduled and two CBs where I'm waiting to receive an offer.

I wouldn't do it. I learned that, at least at a couple firms, interviewers write e-mails immediately after the interview recommending whether to make an offer to the candidate or not. These are collected by the recruiter, who takes them to the hiring partner for committee ruling. At no point are thank-you notes factored in........ unless there's a typo or some other issue. So, basically, it can only hurt you.
Plus, a panel of 3 hiring partners from different firms (1 was from TX) at my OCI said not to send them. Ever.
