Magistrate v. District Judge

Could someone please give me a comparison between the two in terms of post clerkship employment. I know that a district judge clerkship is going to provide better opportunities, but I am trying to gauge the degree of that difference and whether a magistrate clerkship would be worth it.

FYI: I had biglaw numbers but did not get a big law position. I am only doing a clerkship to try to re-open those doors.

I seriously doubt that a magistrate clerkship will be a ticket into biglaw. Not that it wouldn't help, but they are looking for CoA clerks mainly and dist. crt. clerks to some degree. But, if I were you I would still take it if you miss out on the district ct - it is prestigious. I mean, what else would you be doing? You could always try and do a dist. crt. clerkship afterwards.
