Exit Options for Different Practice Areas

Can someone enlighten me about the exit options for various practice areas?

Litigation - besides gov't, PI, and solo practice, where do you go when you get tired of law firm life? Can white collar/corporate investigations people exit in house or is that left exclusively to corporate attorneys?

Corporate - if you want to go in house somewhere, is there a particular group w/in corporate that's best? M&A, cap markets, banking & finance, fin institutions, etc.

I'm also really interested in tax. I've heard the work is interesting/challenging but the hours are great so that sounds solid. But what exactly do you do after you're done w/ the firm life?

* Note: I'm not trying to pick a practice area on the spot, but it'd be nice to have an inkling of what I'd like to do when picking firms w/ particular specialties or strengths.
