Thoughts on Paul, Weiss

How does Paul | Weiss compare to other litigation outfits such as Kirkland, Williams & Connolly, Munger, Susman, etc?
How selective/prestigious is the firm, generally?

LOL no.
In terms of how good the firms are, the ranking would be:
1) Susman
2) W&C
3) Kirkland
3) Munger
3) Paul Weiss
It's really hard to compare these firms. Susman is a boutique. W&C might as well be a boutique. Kirkland is a national litigation giant. Munger is good, but not national in reach. Paul Weiss has established itself as the go-to shop for financial crisis-related litigation.

I wouldn't dare take Paul Weiss over Debevoise for corporate. Between Paul Weiss and Kirkland NY, it's tough, though obviously K&E if you want to do private equity. Other than that, I can't think of another firm V10-V20 worth taking over Paul Weiss.

Care to elaborate on that? I have CBs at both.

I had a callback with them recently, and I just thought I should note that out of all the firms I visited so far, they were by far the most friendly people. I'd rather work with everyone I met there than anyone else. Praying I get in.

+1. The only firm other than PW where I found each person I touched genuinely warm and genuine was DPW. Definitely good people in those firms, as most others I know reported similar experiences.

Debevoise just has a better corporate practice, period.

Disagree. While Susman and W&C are most certainly more selective than Paul Weiss, I wouldn't say that Kirkland is more prestigious than Paul Weiss. I'd put both Kirkland & Paul Weiss on the same level. This of course assumes litigation.

It's funny how subjective all of this is, e.g., I've never met a DPW lawyer I liked (at all), and I've met several.

I did put them on the same level. Notice they both have a "3" next to them?
