What's the deal with Reed Smith paying below market (130K). Do they still pay market bonuses? What are the incentives of working for them if another firm will pay 30k more per year? Any thoughts?

To those who have callbacks:

How soon after the interview did you get the callback? If you can disclose what school you go to, that would be great.

Good luck on the callback!

My CB came the day after. I'm at CLS.

The incentive to work for below market value for Reed Smith is that a job is better than no job.

Sure, they may lose out on the best people, but they'll probably still get top 1/3 to median at any T-14 top of the class at T1 ITE. If not better.

That's what I figured. And it looks like the work there is definitely on par for other international law firms. GL.

Is Reed Smith having financial troubles, or is there some other reason why their decisions are so far behind everyone else? They pay below market, so could they be waiting for candidates with other (market) offers to withdraw in order to increase their yield?

Just wondering, how did everyone find out that they pay below market? Is it on the website somewhere?

Have a CB with their Houston office, and NALP says they pay 160k. I can't imagine they'd pay less in NY than Texas, so is the NALP information incorrect?

This is a thread from 2010. They probably paid below market then.

Found an ATL article that said they raised it to $160,000 in 2014.
