Top Law Schools

So I know there is some stigma against attaining a JD/MBA as law firms see it as a 'shifty' kind of move. But I was wondering, are there any reputable law firms that look at this degree favorably? I'm trying to find some firms that specialize in the Corporate, Banking, Tax, or Securities sector that are good, 80-120K/year, and that look for JD/MBA students. V50 seems kind of out of reach for me. Anything helps!

i just put away all the NALP form printouts i made for OCI, but there was at least one firm that actually gave a JD/MBA bonus.

I know some firms will bump you up a class year if you have a JD/MBA. Cahill Gordon in NY is one. You will enter the associate class above you, and start out as a second year as opposed to a first year. Not sure if this helps.

Not sure how helpful individual firm-branch insight like this is, but I spoke with two of the hiring partners at O'MM SF who mentioned that they really wished more students would pursue a JD/MBA so they'd have the business background to hit the ground running.

One of my mom's cousins got a JD/MBA from a TTT school and is now the managing partner of a medium-sized firm in a major city. He said they viewed his MBA as an asset. At the very least, I can't see how it would hurt you.

JD/MBAs often are sought after & receive bonuses.

Some schools, like Cornell and Penn now let you do both degrees in three years. I hear it is incredibly difficult, but whoa, it would be sick to graduate with the two degrees in three years.

I also have a question on how JD/MBA affects the hiring process. I am currently a 2L but I am thinking about applying for the joint degree to finish both degrees in 4 years.

If I apply to firms for a SA spot next year, would they treat me like a 2L again or would they have wanted me to spend 2 summers (2L and 3L summer before joining after "4L" year) there?

If you are doing a JD/MBA combo, they treat your 3L->4L summer like 2L->3L summer for your normal law student.
