Become a law professor!

Post by JDU Troll » Fri Aug 20, 2010 9:51 pm

Check out this exciting Craigslist post. A new law school is looking for professors. The highest reaches of the legal profession are now within your grasp, no matter your school, class rank, or journal! No longer will you be John Doe, Esq., a small fish in a sea of lawyers. Instead, you'll be John Doe, Distinguished Professor of Law. It will say so right on your business card.

Imagine the prestige! :-) :-) :-)

Those in the know will wonder what Justice you clerked for. Women will be impressed. Alan Dershowitz will be proud to call you his peer and welcome you into the fraternity. Your students will grovel before your deft, Socratic questioning. Your aunt will brag about you at her bridge game, especially to the lady whose son is just a partner at Wachtell.

If you can spare 2 to 4 hours a week – this should mesh fine with your barista schedule – you're golden. This fine institution uses the latest in technology, allowing you to telecommute from anywhere. Want to roll out of bed and lecture from mom's basement in your underwear while YouPo your Bloomberg terminal displays in the second monitor? No problemo!

I know most of you would be willing to do this free, "for the experience," but this job actually pays. Woot! And, the earlier your get in, the more you make. Models and bottles, baby.

This prestigious listing requires bar admission and gives preference to those that graduated from a top 100 law school and/or are employed at a top 100 law firm. Cooley grads are probably SOL, but the rest of you should waste no time applying. The best courses are filling up, so hurry!

New distance learning law school is looking for faculty interested in teaching classes. The new venture is being started by entrepreneurs and attorneys to teach students applied law for the purpose of creating corporate associates that are able to practice law at a second/third year associate level upon graduation.

The law school has already been extensively developed with curriculum for most Bar classes but lectures, assignments, and exams still need to be developed. Our Dean and several reputable faculty have already been selected to teach certain classes. The school is just about to initiate the approval process with the California Bar Association and is looking to finalize its core faculty.

It is anticipated that the school will grow quickly due to the types students it will be targeting and the emphasis on producing attorneys that are well-versed in practical skills necessary to succeed in corporate law environments. Faculty members who become involved early-on will have more opportunities for financial reward.

To be considered, you must have a JD or LLM from a US law school and be admitted to practice in any US jurisdiction. Preference will be given to those that graduated from a top 100 law school and/or are employed at a top 100 law firm. Preference will also be given to those with teaching experience and especially those with online teaching experience. Weekly time commitment will be about 2-4 hours.

If you are interested, please email a resume or at least a brief description of your background.

Why would you think the Craigslist post wasn't legitimate, o wise one? That ad is almost two weeks old and cost the poster $75. Opportunity may only knock once. You should answer. :-) :-) :-)
