I am a 3L and have a big law firm job offer. Doing a clerkship means I have to defer my firm job for one or two years. I personally think a COA or federal district judge clerkship would worth the one or two years of salaries. But is it worth it to do a clerkship with a Magistrate Judge or Bankruptcy Judge in such case?

If you're going to be working in a litigation-heavy bankruptcy group, doing a 1 year bankruptcy clerkship would probably be worth it, though you should talk to the members of the group. Otherwise, I would say no. Check with your firm - they might not even pay the clerkship bonus for Magistrate judges. Magistrates do a lot of dink and dunk type of things - work that you won't be doing at a big firm, more than likely.
