Transfer student here...just checked my interview schedule and only have 17 interviews. I feel this is on the low end, as I was expecting 20+. Is 17 normal or did I bid poorly? How many interviews did transfers and others get?

I also am a transfer, I got 23. I know career services says 20-25 is common for transfers.

i got in the 25 range and my friend got in the 25 range as well.

Did you guys bid NYC? I think my 17 interviews is a result of aiming for a non-NYC market. I hope that was the right choice.

Btw, do you know if we will have a chance to sign up for any extra interviews or slots people have dropped in the next few days?

Not a transfer; bid 40 in NY and 6 elsewhere: 25.

looks the average was 25 for those applying in NYC. There is open sign-up on Friday at noon.

Man I feel shafted! Also just realized I left slot 12 on my bid list blank...

I got 26. 40 NY firms. Got a surprising number of lower picks... I would have thought Chadbourne would have been more popular.

I got 30, but dropped 2.

non transfer. 29. dropped all four non-NYC firms and have 25.

Can transfers drop interviews? (deadline to drop was aug 13, but transfers didnt get their rosters until aug 18.) I have one firm lined up that is probably way out of my league, and I really don't want to waste anybody's time.

OP here...tagged an additional 13 interviews today at noon, brining me up to 30. I was really really surprised - a ton of firms I bid highly on had numerous open slots (I have no idea why the system did not give me these before...). I had 6 of my top 15 before, now I have 13 of my top 15. Plus I was able to snag irell, david polk, cravath, skadden....I guess ITE scared people away from bidding on these firms?? I don't have a great chance at these firms, but I figure that casting as wide a net as possible can't hurt.

Transfer write on + 8-9 interviews a day + callbacks + classes starting + adjusting to a city I've never lived in before/know no one in = really insane next month.

Also FWIW (to you fellow transfers), two of my friends from my old school (t20) who transfered to columbia have totally owned OCI - each has 12+ callbacks at really impressive NY and CA firms.

were your add on interviews with skadden, davis polk, etc. in nyc?! were most outside Nyc?

I got polk and cravath for NY (surprising, right?), skadden for LA. Most of my other snags were outside of NYC.

What are you guys doing to prepare for interviews? I need to be a lot more efficient with my time. I feel like none of the firms I have interviews with would have given me an offer at my old T20. No idea what to expect, and I feel like I have the worst grades of any NYU transfer student. Reading the Columbia thread is freaking me out. I recommend not reading it.

davis had 230 interview slots. thats about half the class. not surprising they still had slots open.

CLS thread does not seem to bad. Again, fwiw, two of my friends, transfers from a t20 to CLS, have 12+ callbacks each. I would not worry so much. As a transfer, with good grades, at NYU, with 20+ interviews, with decent interview skills....I find it difficult to believe you won't get a job.

Anyone know why dla piper doesn't do NYU EIW?

Probably around Top 15-20% at a low T20. Still not sure how I got in.
