Business Card Distribution Indicative of Interview Success?

So far I have interviewed with 15 different attorneys at my school's OCI. As a general trend, I have noticed that interviews that have gone extremely well (at least in my opinion) have ended with the interviewer giving me his/her business card. Has anyone else noticed a similar trend? Is this a good indication that the attorney enjoyed speaking with me? Is it a mere courtesy? Should I read anything into this?

I don't think it's a signal. I've done well getting callbacks after interviewers handed out business cards, but others (Paul Weiss) clearly had a stack to hand out in cadence to each person. Keep in mind the person across from you may have very little say in the callback process or may be a major player, so it's hard to draw generalizations from their behavior.

From experience, I don't think it means anything.

Means nothing. Did not get cards from the interview I had last year that led to callback/offer. Got cards from places where I got no callback.

Business card distribution should be indicative of interview success. If an interviewer gives you a business card, that means they want to talk to you- and SOON. I recommend getting to a computer, googling/ researching the interview for the next two to three hours, and then calling them at some point that night (preferably by cell phone if available). Treat this call as a middle interview between your OCI and your callback. The interviewer will appreciate your go-getter attitude and your dedication to both him and the firm.
