Summer associate: what should 1Ls expect for 2011?
So if the big laws are deferring their offers till 2011, doesn't that mean 1Ls, even those at Yale and Stanford, have to worry about summer 2011?

Huh?Anonymous User wrote:So if the big laws are deferring their offers till 2011, doesn't that mean 1Ls, even those at Yale and Stanford, have to worry about summer 2011?
1) Your question makes very little sense.
2) There is no reason for you to be posting an innocent question like this anonymously.
To attempt to answer: deferrals have been going on for a while now. They negatively impact all classes, because firms lower their recruiting numbers. It tends to hurt everyone fairly uniformly, because it encourages firms to hire less and the effect trickles down.

From what I have been told, the 1L market should be a little better but will still be tough. To place that into context, this past cycle was brutal.

OP de-anonymized due to not asking anything remotely requiring anonymity.
