As everyone knows, big firms summer associate hiring for 2009 was pretty gruesome. 2010 proved to be a complete blood bath, with even bigger cuts in almost all programs.

What are the general predictions for 2011 summer hiring? Better, worse, or the same as 2010?

I was under the impression that 2009 hiring was pretty big, but then they no-offered a bunch of people.

Anyway, my prediction is probably about the same as last year but we have the distinct advantage of knowing what is about to happen.

Same to slightly better is a good bet. A little bit worse is possible, but almost no chance of being a lot better or a lot worse.
