Just wanted some suggestions on the list. I am really lost in this process so feel free to criticize. (T2-t14 transfer, focusing on Chicago/Ohio market)

I basically threw out Kirkland, Sidley, Mayer, since my 3.9 is from a T2, and focused on the schools with lower grade requirements, etc. However, they all have smaller classes as well. Should I move the Ohio bids down since there will probably be less people bidding for them? Any other advice?

Yes but not exclusively. I am guessing you are saying that because of Marshal, McDonnel and Pattishal, correct?

yes. I can't really give you any good advice but as a transfer you probably want to shoot a bit lower than you would if your 3.9 were from T14 school. do you have a hard science background? that could help with the IP firms (though Pattishall doesn't do patents and doesn't require a science background, I don't know about the other 2).

I feel like I am going pretty conservative as it is. Out of all the Chicago firms coming, I am bidding on some of the lowest ones and not on some of the highest

After some advice, I pushed up the Skadden, Latham, and other "elite" bids because the class sizes at the other firms are so small. Just wanted to bump this one last time in hopes of getting a few more pieces of advice.

That's about what I would have done if I was bidding Chicago (T1-->T10 transfer). Those small classes size and no offer rates, though, scared the shit out of me.

I wouldn't not bid on Kirkland because you're transferring from a T2. GIve them a shot.

You really think so? Obviously I'd fucking love that but I just wasn't sure if they would even give me a shot. While I somewhat thought that the fact that I am coming from a Chicago T2 would help, I have started to think it will hurt since they don't come to the T2 OCI...

The vast majority of transfers in to the T14 are going to end up working for firms that didn't interview at the prior school's OCI, or only interviewed as a token (with no intention to hire anyone). Of all of the transfer students from my class at Chi, only 2 of them got jobs that they even reasonably had a chance at getting from their original school--and both of them had relatively strict geography requirements for personal reasons.

Of the Chicago firms, there are transfers at Kirkland, Mayer, Winston, Sidley, and Latham. One transfer turned down Jenner Chi. for a firm in NYC. The only one we didn't get was Skadden. So don't bid too conservatively. Granted, almost all of the UChicago transfers came in from T1 schools, but I think you're putting too much emphasis on the difference between a school in the upper 30s/lower 40s and a school in the 60s-70s-whatever your school is.
