Can someone who's been through this fair comment generally on what the deal is like?
Some questions I had in mind were, 1) how quickly the callback turnaround was from last year, 2) what you would've done differently in prep for this event if you could have a do-over, and 3) whether you got anything out of it.

wrt 1), I believe if you look at past threads about the LPIP, there were callbacks rolling in about 4-5 days after the initial screening interviews ended

1) Ranged from 1 day to a few weeks.

2) I wouldn't have changed anything. I spent 2-3 full days researching firms, researching interviewers, taking notes on everything, prepping questions, etc. It was a lot of work, especially for the number of interviews I had, but it paid off.

3) I got an SA job out of it and a bunch of other callbacks/offers.

1. did any law firm give you guys a callback at the end of the screening interview?
2. did you attend the networking reception? did that help for your screenings?

3. And this is a stretch, did any of you guys transfer to a different school before the Patent fair, if so - how did you express this to firms who granted you a bid possibly based on the location of your former school?

1. No, but a few made it pretty clear I would be getting one.

2. I attended a firm's networking event, but that was it. It was boring and, I think, useless. Free food/booze was nice.

Can you also kindly comment on some criterion you used in your selection of a firm, if you had the luxury of multiple offers? If you did not, can you give me some perspective on what you did in deciding which firms to bid on originally?

I'm looking at Chambers band information, Vault info, etc., for whatever that exercise is worth.

One primary thing I've personally been tracking is where the main players in patent litigation work - for each market that I'm interested in, I'm wondering if this is something you did as well.

When it came down to choosing a firm, it was about a combination of a firm's health and the quality of their IP practice (lit/pros/etc).

As for bidding, I selected firms in markets I was interested in with quality IP practices. I bid on both boutiques and GPs. I've worked for at least one of each (boutique and GP) and there definitely are differences (but also similarities).
