I'm considering doing a joint JD/MPP to try to land a gig in the State Dept. Good idea?

I share a similar interest (and have similar questions regarding benefit of dual degree). I have come down against a masters (for the moment). I have started to think a bit more about an LLM (both Gtown and NYU have programs which seem to place well into State Department Legal Advisor, USTR or other such organizations). Fellows at the IILJ (NYU) and IIEL (Gtown) are generally high caliber law students, who may have been able to achieve those jobs independently of the LLM so that is something to think about as well.
