Region I am attending school - west coast

employable? yes. As to the quality of the job, it depends on the market where the school is located, its success in placing students there, etc.

Wow, this is a really confusing way to respond, but I'll still address your answers anyway:
1) "West coast" is a big statement for lower Tier 1. You're going to be confined to the state you live in. I understand anonymity, but the answer is that it should be far less problematic to find work in the state you're in than any other state, even on the same coast.
2) BigLaw will be iffy, but could certainly be doable. It seems like hiring is going to be picking up this year for 2L SA spots as the economy recovers, and if so, I think you have a decent chance. Be prepared to blanket every law firm you'd even consider working for, and to take what you can get. You're going to have to put in the work to find a gig, but I think it's possible if you do.
3) Would you enjoy working in that small firm again? Do they hire fresh grads? Try to establish solid connections there, because if that's the best you can do, you best leave yourself in a position to take it. However, if this is your 1L summer I wouldn't worry too much about not having been able to get BigLaw. Most BigLaw firms have just plain stopped hiring 1Ls, or drastically reduced the numbers they do hire. It's 2L summer where you really actually have a chance of getting that SA spot you want.
4) This will be a plus, as long as you weren't fired from said job. Based on things I've heard from people in the last year or two, firms are paying a lot more attention to people who have prior WE now as an indicator of potential success, now that they're being pickier about who to hire.

Also, have you talked to people from the class ahead of you in a similar position or have you heard about how they are doing?
