will not being bilungiual hurt me?
My question is in regard to the alleged growing trend of employeers preferring bilingual employees over employees like myself who just speak English.
I''ll be attending a T14 law school soon and the only language that I speak is English. I will be going into corporate law.
Will not being able to speak Spanish or another language as well as English hurt my chances for getting or even keeping a high paying job? I'm afraid that I'll have to go to school an extra year for an MBA or something to look like a better candidate because I hear about how spanish speakers are preferred for jobs in the United States. By the way, I grew up in Canada so Im not sure what its like getting a job here.

Not sure if not being bilingual will hurt you, but your spelling might.

Grew up in Kingston, Canada. Beleive it or not. Not everyone in Canada can speak English and French.

I'm Hispanic and I'm not bilingual. Sad things happen sometimes.Leeroy Jenkins wrote:You're Canadian and you aren't bilingual? Fail.

Re: will not being bilungiual hurt me?
Out of my closest friends, I'm the only one that's bilingual and it doesn't seem like any of my friends have been adversely affected in their careers or lives by not speaking another language.

No clue about your original question, but I recommend you try to remedy your statement that you have no idea what it is like getting a job here. What you find might surprise you...
