Proskauer Rose minimum class rank to interview by school

The Law Consortium Hiring Criteria:
Boston College - Top 10%
Boston University - Top 10%
George Washington - Top 15%
Northwestern - Top 40%
University of Texas - Top 30%

I don't really have any feelings on this...just don't care I guess. But since most of TLS is secretly super concerned with prestige  , I thought this was poast worthy. Though most big firms don't poast this outright, I'd imagine their hiring criteria is probably around these ranges for these schools.

What about schools that prescreen and don't have a GPA/Class Rank?

How can they differentiate top 45% from top 40%?

Are these really "Hard" cutoffs?

None of these cutoffs are hard at all. One firm will say "top 10% preferred" but routinely hire down to median, another will say "median required" but only take students from top 3%, while others won't list anything at all. You have to get data from other sources.

As far as differentiating, they know exactly where people stand because of the huge #s of applicants they get coupled with rudimentary understanding of statistics.
Yea I get this, but I doubt anyone, even with huge applicant #s, could differentiate between top 45% and top 40% at Penn when there are no GPAs. It would take a lot of attorney time calculating an imaginary GPA for every applicant...

I was referring to where Sealocust said "they know EXACTLY where people stand."

Man, it's a rough fall from #15 to #20. Or from #20 to #22.

Not that they really care about USNWR.

I was about to say the same. I don't know that Proskauer will be courting CCN's median (which is what I assume would be the case if these digits were correct, since it presumably hires top 40 percent at NU).

I tend to assume that anybody who will take median at Northwestern would take anybody outside the bottom third at CCN, but I might be wrong about that. I think it's unclear whether certain T14 schools can place kids at the 40% mark anywhere in biglaw.

I have numbers showing that Proskauer's average pre-ITE callback from my MVPB-level school was smack on median. Wouldn't be surprised if they're looking more at top-third now, but it's unclear exactly how much certain firms raised their GPA standards and how much they just got more selective within their traditional GPA range.

In light of threads like this one, they should rename this whole sub-forum "Where 0Ls Decide to Become Gunners."
