As per NALP rules, first-year law students are not allowed to be interviewed on-site but may attend the event to learn more about legal employers.
Q. Who is invited to attend the Career Fair?
While all students and lateral associates are welcome to attend, this event is specifically designed for the following underrepresented groups:
* Minority, female and GLBT rising 2Ls who have not yet committed to a firm or other employer for summer 2011
** a limited number of employers may also wish to interview rising 3Ls for entry level associate positions
* Minority, female and GLBT lateral associates who are looking for new opportunities

2009 SF Career Fair Stats:
* 716 diverse students applied to participate in the fair
* 36 employers participated
* Over 203 students were chosen by employers to be interviewed at the career fair
* More than 68 students were granted callback interviews, which resulted in over 22 offers extended
So...
28% chance of an interview
9% chance of callback
3% chance of offer
...but it would be free for me, as my dad lives in SF and I have mucho flier miles.

Not sure if that helps you, but I hear Boston is a good secondary market for IP (after DC and SF/SV). So in theory - diversity + IP = good shot in Boston.
