DA's Office California

The budget in California is horrible right now but even still there are some counties hiring for entry level DA positions. I'm curious to know what sort of competition I can expect come next year upon graduation. I'm on a journal with a published article, top 11%, T2 school, 2 internships at Ventura DA and San Bernardino DA. And I'm assisting on a criminal trial book with a professor. I have other legal experience not directly related to becoming a prosecutor. So, if I'm willing to travel anywhere in California next year to find a DA position, what will the odds look like?

The competition will be incredibly stiff. That's for almost any DA's office that is hiring not just ones in California. Expect to be up against a ton of applicants for very few positions.

Also, just b/c an office anywhere is doing interviews or taking applications doesn't mean that anyone will get hired in the end. Final hiring decisions are nearly always contingent on state budgets. If there are budget problems, expect to be strung along for several months with no guarantee of ever getting hired.
