Top Law Schools

Long story short: my grades this semester will blow, and I'm fairly certain that I will get no offered at the firm I was so lucky to get a job ab this summer because 1) grades and 2) I'm almost completely socially inept;people don't like me (I got the job through personal connections and luck).

My question is am I under any sort of legal obligation to tell my employer? I plan to work this summer to make the money to pay back loans for this first year, but I know I have no plans on returning to law school* (I plan to withdraw with enough hours to be granted an unconditional re-acceptance from my school should I ever change my mind). Has anyone ever heard of a situation such as this one?

why would you be under any obligation other than an ethical one? as long as you don't tell anyone you're going to drop out until after the summer is over, who cares?

Don't say anything. Instead, take the summer to think about your decision. Wait till you get your grades, see how you fit in at the firm. If at the end of the summer you still feel the same way, you'll have the cash in hand to pay back the loans. BUT if things don't end up as bad as you think, you don't want to sabotage yourself.

There's nothing unethical about doing this at the end of the summer if you're truly spending the summer reconsidering.

Two issues:
1) How do you know your grades already??? (and judging by the fact that yuo have a firm job your 1L summer you must be doing something right....)

2) You do realize that most people don't (and don't expect) to get an offer out of their 1L summer job right?
