I’m a 0L so this issue doesn’t affect me for quite some time, but I was wondering which V100 law firms are considered liberal/Democratic-leaning? I’ve heard of Akin Gump, Arnold and Porter, and Perkins Coie…any others?

I think Bingham might be one too, at least in their Boston office. I know they allow more pro bono to count as billable hours than most firms.

I would really like to know more about this too, if anyone has any other firms to add to the list.

I think Arent Fox may be, based on their HRC score.

I've heard Clearly Gottlieb referred to (tongue-in-cheek) as "Queery Gottlieb." Probably one of the most liberal of the V10.

Irell Manella in LA is similar. Wachtell and Debevoise are also fairly liberal, both on GLBTQ issues and general progressive causes.

who cares? I would spend 80 hours a week in a room full of tea-baggers if it paid 100k+.

I think those of us who care are those who wouldn't do that.

Let me rephrase: they have a giant HRC logo [strike]on their homepage.[/strike] on their website. Unlike others who have all the boxes checked off, Arent Fox actually places in the HRC top business rankings.

They also have one of the most generous diversity scholarship programs for GLBTQ folks; I want to say the 2L scholarship is $15,000 in addition to a guaranteed paying firm gig 1L and 2L summers.

Just off hand I would say Perkins Coie is fairly blue leaning. They have done a lot of work for democratic candidates and campaigns. Also, one their partners was appointed White House counsel in January.

Just an aside, they are also one of the big firms that take part in the Impact Career Fair, which is specifically for students and lawyers with disabilities.

It isn't just LGBT, it is "diversity" and from the app it looks heavily African American leaning, however I'd still apply. 15k 1L summer scholarship + paying gig + gay associate cocktail parties.

Yes, I didn't mean to imply that it was just a GLBTQ scholarship, just that it was one of the most generous programs to which us queer folks can apply.

Off-topic: I'm thoroughly opposed to the incorporation of the Q. Let's hijack the thread to discuss it's merits.

Ahaha. I identify with the "Q" so I think it's important. We don't need to have a chat about it's importance in the rhetoric of the movement here...maybe the Lavender Law Conference is a more appropriate venue :)

Back to liberal firms...I'll echo earlier statements about OMM, and include Quinn Emanuel and Mayer Brown.

I want to approve of this hijack, because I likewise disapprove of the "Q". But it will inevitably result in some dumb mofo showing up and throwing down some horribly insulting shit. So, back on topic (as boring as it is).

Looks like someone has a little teabaggerphobia.
