3L OCI

Wondering who shows up to 3l oci. I have heard a lot about 2l oci, but if you strike out there what can you expect from the next fall? I am at a t2 so I am concerned that no firms (big or small) will show up. Is this assumption warranted? thanks to all for any help.

For 2009 OCI, only 3% of firms hired 3Ls. I think the study called the job market "barren."

They still have 3L OCI?
Seriously, though, at my school (T14) the average 3L participating in OCI this past fall got between 2 and 3 interviews. I don't imagine it will be much better in the next couple years (but who knows?).

Unless you're at HYS, I somehow doubt that your average 3L got that many interviews (unless you only had a handful of 3Ls even bothering with OCI). I heard the average at my school this past fall was 0-1... It's safe to say 3L recruitment is non-existent.

This is hearsay, but my friend talked to the career center (top 5 school), which said that more firms than usual will be participating in 3L OCI this year because some firms undersubscribed with their summer hires in 2009. Anyone else hear this? I'm still thinking that "more firms than usual" will still be an insubstantial amount since so few firms participate.

3L OCI is an internet myth. CLS just put out the firms coming to EIP for 2LS and the # of interviews. There are 8 firms recruiting 3LS. 6 V20s which means grades matter.

there were quite a few firms at my school last fall interviewing 3Ls. They were pretty much the same firms there interviewing 2Ls. Maybe half of them interviewed 3Ls also.

I would not bank anything on 3L OCI.

You either have very few firms that interview 2Ls, non-market firms, or are mistaken. And that's without even considering that the firms who interview both 2Ls and 3Ls will interview way more 2Ls than 3Ls.
I was considering the firms who interviewed both.
When I was applying for 2L OCI last fall, probably 40-50% of the firms were soliciting 2L's for SA and 3Ls for full time work, according to their posting on the symplicity board.
I think there were a few firms that may have been specifically looking for 3Ls so I skipped over those.
I'm not saying that's typical of everywhere...I'm sure some markets are in a different position than others.

yeah and i wouldn't be surprised if the V20s are looking for 3Ls that normally would've qualified for V10 in prior years, but got V50 because of the crappy economy, and are looking to "upgrade"
