Insurance while you're a SA

In general, are SAs eligible for insurance coverage during the program? My school's required insurance only covers the academic year--trying to determine whether I'll need to buy my own coverage for the 3 months.
I realize the best way to get the answer to this question would be to ask someone in the office at the firm... but I really don't feel like that is a question I should be asking.

If you're under 26, get insurance through your parents' if they have it.

OP here: Parents don't have insurance. The school's insurance is definitely only for the academic year--to be more accurate, the 3rd-party plan that the school negotiated to fill the insurance requirement is only for the academic year.
I might just go without for three months. I'm not paying $400 a month or whatever absurd amount it would be under Cobra.

As a tax payer who will be on the hook if you get hurt and use emergency services, I do not approve of this decision.

See, the thing is, you're only on the hook if I'm judgment-proof. I'm not (filing bankruptcy under such circumstances would be a great way to fail C&F).

As someone who had an entirely unpredictable and sudden medical crisis that cost upwards of $900,000 dollars in hospital bills (Thank god I had enough coverage), do NOT go uninsured for three months. Seriously, don't do it. Get whatever the super high deductable catastrophe insurance is offered (your school has SOMETHING), and make sure you handle all your regular medical stuff during the school year.

OP here: Yeah, I had something similar happen when I was in high school. I may go with a high-deductible stop-gap for the summer.
