Federal Judicial Internship > State??

So I interviewed with a judge in state court, and he offered me the job on the spot. I respectfully asked for a week to think about it.

However, I did very well first semester, and I'm pretty sure I could land a federal district judicial internship. Still, I'm worried about turning down the state judge for a different judge, because more likely than not, I will practice in this state AND in this area (and he isn't that old!)

Is it THAT big of a deal that I'd miss out on a federal job this summer? I am fairly certain I could land one in the fall or winter, though I am considering transferring to a much better school where I will have more competition for those kind of jobs.

Thoughts? I hate to be a prestige whore about this, but I can't help thinking about it.

If I were you, I would have taken the state job on the spot. Everyone tells me that state v. federal doesn't really make a difference as a 1L.

I only have 2 state judge interviews and no federal, after applying to many of both. If I get a state offer, I plan to take it right away.
