Does anyone know:
(1) information on admissions into Gtown or NYU LLM?
-stats: top 5%, T45, A in tax.
(2) approximate employment statistics coming out of Gtown or NYU LLM?
-are any of the other programs, including Florida, comparable to these two?

I'm a joint JD/LLM at GULC
1. Your chances at admission are essentially 100% at NYU or GULC.
2. Employment statistics for tax are frankly hard to come by. Don't go into the program expecting recruitment like GULC JD hiring. The IRS is hiring a little bit, Big 4 accounting is hiring a little bit, but firms aren't hiring at all at the moment. NYU is generally your best bet for employment, followed by GULC, followed by Florida.

Although not necessarily comparable to NYU / GULC, NU has a very good tax LLM program.
I think that your grades are probably fine for admission purposes. Having spoken with both GULC and NU about admission into their gradaute tax programs, I have learned that in addition to law school grades, decisiosns are largely driven by experience prior to attending law school or experience b/w law school and entering into the LLM program.

Are you being deferred a year? I am suprised with your numbers that you don't have a job already lined up (even in this market)!

I am a 2L. I do have a job lined up for this coming summer, but this particular firm has told me that they will not likely have any tax openings. Note: I summered with them for 1L as well, so don't think that I asked them that during interviews, haha. I didn't receive any other offers during 2L OCI.

Is the hiring based on LLM class rank? I just don't want to pin myself into tax if I am gong to struggle to find a firm job coming out of this LLM.

It's based on a variety of factors. LLM grades, JD grades, backgrounds. Keep in mind that a large number of tax LLMs are practicing tax attorneys- so not every LLM student is actually looking for a job. Assuming you get a full time offer from your firm, I think it makes absolutely no sense to turn it down for the LLM.

I'm going to bump this.
I'm testing the waters regarding a top Tax LLM program. I'm only interested in the NYU/GT/UF programs.
I'm a median student at a T25, secondary journal, note is being published, have some corporate work experience prior. Taking Federal Income Tax this semester.
Is it possible with a decent grade in FIT to get into any one of these programs?

I saw someone with very similar stats as you that got into GULC.

NYU's website says most of the students accepted are in the top 25% of their JD class. I think you need to move into top 25% to have much of a shot.

Yeah you would get into NYU's program, but why go? Big law chances are very very low through the GULC/NYU tax interview program. Most LLM people (that actually find employment) end up going Big 4. It sounds like you could just try to make the jump to Big 4 now and avoid wasting a year of your life and 50k.

NYU has a joint-degree program where you can get your LLM in only an extra semester, not sure if you're a 2L or 3L, but something to consider. My understanding from going to the information session was that they try to let as many NYU JD's into the program as they can.

What about the environmental law llm at NYU? Are admissions standards the same (as the website suggests) for all LLM degrees at NYU?

Thank you. I hope you are right. It's really for my own personal reasons. I don't aim to do Big law but I do want to develop an even deeper understanding of tax law. I love learning and believe the broader the base of tax knowledge I can obtain (hence why I'm going for the CPA when I'm not required to by my firm), the better service I can ultimately provide to existing and future clients.
