FIU Florida International Class of 2012
Just a quick note to say that we will be meeting at John Martin's Irish Pub in Coral Gables on the evening of June 13 at 8PM....FIU will be having and ASD on the 13th so there should be plenty of people around to meet...please let anybody else who will be attending FIU Law in the Fall of 09 that they are more more than welcome to attend and bring whoever they like...If I dont see you on the 13th, see you in the fall.

Re: FIU Florida International Class of 2012
I will not be there on the 13th but will be there in the fall! I just graduated from UMiami and am back home in the Chicago area for the summer and working, so traveling down again is out of the question.

wasn't posting negatively towards FIU at all, and i absolutely wish the best to the incoming class of 2012.. the whole Isiah thing is funny to just about everyone, i mean even people in Detroit hate him?? .. (assuming the caveman post was an insult) it's amusing to me that you'd take shots at a top 5 public and a top 30 university.. thanks for wasting the minute it took me to reply to your post

Re: FIU Florida International Class of 2012
I have no ties to FIU, it just irritates me to see a person so far down the food chain post such flippant nonsense. Of course, I mistook your intentions. My apologies. Enjoy Chapel Hill!tarheels19 wrote:wasn't posting negatively towards FIU at all, and i absolutely wish the best to the incoming class of 2012.. the whole Isiah thing is funny to just about everyone, i mean even people in Detroit hate him?? .. but it's amusing to me that you'd take shots at a top 5 public and a top 30 university in general.. thanks for wasting the minute it took me to reply to your post

Re: FIU Florida International Class of 2012
glad you can add another insult accompanied with the enjoy chapel hill comment, stay classy...i mean posting isiah's picture is less 'flippant nonsense' than you posing the FIU dance team photo(noone in law school will be bagging any of those girls) ?? lol... and thanks again for your continued input, i never would of thought that a university that gets 3,300+ applicants a year was that far down the food chain

Thanks for the info! I just requested to join. As far as Isiah Thomas goes, I think it is one of the smartest things the athletic department could have done. Yes, he has definitely had his fair share of problems, but it gains instant recognition to the basketball program, that, let's face it, did not have much before.flhealth wrote:lot more activity in facebook under this group:rcsbball11 wrote:Anyone else going to FIU next fall?

Hey WP, I joined and you recently added me as a friend...I'm RS..I've just been scopin out the Admitted Students group and what people have had to say..It's kind of a bummer that I won't be able to make the reception this weekend, since I'm up in Illinois and working. I'm going to have to email Mrs. Miro and see if there is any way that I can get the information that everyone will get there.flhealth wrote:dude....did you join?...who are you?...I'm WP....also bumping to the front page!

Re: FIU Florida International Class of 2012
Just got back....very good reception....
Dean Acosta was at the reception today and he spoke after outgoing Dean Strickman
Acosta has definitely been a controversial selection, but in my opinion, he hit all the right notes today in his comments. Among them: He actually acknowledged the importance of rankings and said looked to lead FIU up the rankings. This is refreshing to hear someone from FIU admit the importance of the rankings. He also highlighted that the new career placement department would not be asking more forms to come to FIU for OCI's but that he would use the connections he has made to DEMAND that they attend OCIs. He also stated the importance to start making the efforts to extend FIU's reach not only outside of South Florida and throughout the state, but also to start giving more attention to national placement (DC and NY)...his goals seem lofty, but its refreshing to hear someone not satisfied with the status quo...Professor Fingerhutt ran a sample class session using the Socratic method and finally there was a panal of 2L's and 3L's to answer questions...we did the tours and lunch as well...one nugget that I did take away from the meeting was I learned that there is still more scholaship money to be given....If anyone needs a more detailed question answered, let me know and I'll tell you if it was addressed.
Going out tonight to our super informal meet and greet at John Martin's Irish Pub at 8 in Coral Gables

Hah Professor Fingerhutt. Fingerhutt was an undergrad professor until he was fired for allegedly sexually harassing a student. The only reason he was hired by the law school was because of his personal relationship with the former dean.flhealth wrote:Professor Fingerhutt ran a sample class session using the Socratic method and finally there was a panal of 2L's and 3L's to answer questions...we did the tours and lunch as well...one nugget that I did take away from the meeting was I learned that there is still more scholaship money to be given....If anyone needs a more detailed question answered, let me know and I'll tell you if it was addressed.
