As I did not see a Baylor 2012 group, I figured that I would start one. Is anyone else seriosuly considering Baylor?

I've been accepted. I'm considering it but I'm waiting to hear about aid/scholarship money. I doubt I would attend at sticker price. Are you from Texas? Any thoughts on Waco?

I currently live in Texas, but have lived in Los Angeles, New York, Washington DC, and Tokyo over the course of the past 8 years. I am thinking that because I have lived in these places, oddly enough, Waco does not seem too bad.

I have seen very few committments to Baylor on these boards (not that these boards are representative of anything), but the April 15th deposit deadline is quickly approaching and I would have to believe that quite a bit of scholarship money will become available.

I have also put a deposit down and will for sure be attending in the Fall. I'm going to be heading to Waco sometime next week (depending on my work schedule) to look at apartments and hopefully will have a lease signed. I am looking at the lofts and an apt complex recommended by a law student but if anyone has suggestions please tell me.

I met some people that go to Baylor for ug last weekend and they said Waco is what you make of it. From what I could tell when visiting, don't stray too far from the campus or "downtown" areas.

Good luck to those who still have to make a decision.

Has anyone tried to leverage for more money? I just got an initial scholarship doubled from a t-25 school that is similarly priced to Baylor. Really want to go to Baylor but turning this down would be hard since it would be about $12000 cheaper overall.

Note: I don't want to end up in the region where the top-25 is and really would prefer to practice in Texas

Southernroots, I have not read of any success stories Baylor, per se, but I have read of many success stories at other schools. Given that you received the scholarship from a T-25 and your desire to actually attend Baylor, I think that you might actually have some success with this. I would write an email to the dean of admissions simply desribing your situation and just letting her know that you would be more than happy to set up a phone call / visit to discuss further. Baylor's first deposit deadline is the 15th of April. Granted, Baylor's incoming class size is considerably smaller than some other schools, but I have seen very few people on either TLS or LSN commit to Baylor at this point in time. This would seemingly suggest that some scholarship dollars might become available. Best of luck ... and keep us posted!

I have just sent in my deposit! ahhhh. feels good. going to the June open house.

what are yall thinking to do about housing? visiting this sat to check out apts.

southernroots- also calculate the cost of living in the other schools area. waco is very affordable and produce lawyers in the houston area which is one of the most affordable cities in the country with a large legal community.

my father works for an oil company in houston and many of the lawyers he works with (contracts, litigation, etc) are baylor bears... i think we are in good hands!!

bears 2012!!! :D

I'm heading down tomorrow to check out the campus and housing. Initially, I am planning to try to live in a single dorm room (crazy, I know, but I have been taking care of a house in Dallas for 2 years and am ready for as little work as possible). Otherwise, there are some loft sytle buildings downtown that with a roommate might be reasonable.

Although I still have a few schools that I have yet to hear from, I withdrew from every other school that I have been admitted to because of Baylor's small class size, rigorousness of their program, and reputation of developing very good attorney's.

Just sent in my deposit Monday. Not sure where I'm gonna live though. I heard a lot of student live at The Island, but my sis came with me to check out the place and she thought it looked a little ghetto. (personally i don't care, but i'd rather not have my family whining about the dump i live in whenever they visit) I also like Browning Square apartments, they seem pretty quiet and good for studying, but I don't know.

I was planning to grab a single bedroom, but looking at prices and saving money, seems like finding a roommate would be cheaper. Not sure if I wanna get another law student though, might be helpful to study together, but i hear a lot of horror stories about gunners and hyper-competitive people and I don't want some jerk living with me.

I went to an open house in January and the atmosphere was exactly what I expected law school to be like. In between classes, everybody seemed to be very friendly with each other and I asked a student about the competiveness. She said that one student's computer crashed during exams and almost everyone in the section offered to provide outlines to the distressed student.

In a class of 70-90 the competitive nature will be there but I think Princeton Review's rankings really reflect how much students study per day (not necessarily a cut throat nature).

In the housing guide that they sent out there are 2 Groves. One is the apt complex and the other looks like a couple of duplexes/houses

As I still own a home in Dallas, I was considering living in the dorms, but after further consideration, decided that this would not be such a great idea in light of the fact that very few singles are available. I'll be in Waco this Friday. I'll be sure to check out the Grove! I will very likely be in seach of roommates. I know that a couple of other law schools (i.e. Wake Forest have a roommate match program ... don't think that anything like this exists at Baylor though ...).

Hey y'all,

According to Baylor's Housing guide on the web site, The Grove has a matching roommate service and you can request to be match with law students!
