W&M Class of 2012

Post by SmartCookie » Fri Feb 20, 2009 4:22 pm

Anyone else contemplating W&M this fall?!
It was my first acceptance, it was at the top of my list, and it was a bit of a reach with my numbers, so I'm pretty excited!

Anyone planning on attending ASW?

3.6/162 +graduate degree, non URM, out of college almost 10 years

I went complete in early November and got accepted a couple weeks later. This is a re-application year for me though, so that might have something to do with the fast turnaround. They send a big priority envelope with the acceptance letter.

Good luck to you all!!

Any future Tribe members out there!? I'm pretty sure I'm headed to Williamsburg in August... anyone else?

Anyone attending ASW in a couple weeks?

I think that the problem is that W&M has pretty much only accepted auto-admits so far, who probably all have better schools they are waiting to hear back from and so aren't sure whether or not they will be attending. Odds are good I'll be heading to W&M in the fall though, barring any oustanding scholarship offers or long-shot acceptances from other schools.

Great!!! So when I get a thin snail mail envelope, or worse an email I'll know not to make any plans to move to Virgina.

I am in and going to the ASW in a few weeks. Right now W&M is at the top of my list but we'll see if they can convince me they should stay there.

How do people feel overall about W&M's program/reputation/career prospects?

I think their program sounds pretty good. What I'm worried about is more the reputation/career prospects. I'm from Texas (obviously) and there is a pretty good chance I'll want to practice here after graduation, but I haven't heard great things about people being able to find jobs here with degrees from W&M (I talked to a couple people that are alums of my undergrad that are at W&M law now). Plus, it also bothers me that I'll have to move every summer to find internships or whatever, whereas at a school like GMU, you could just stay in the city.

I was surprised at how fast my acceptance came. I applied sorta last minute in January and got an acceptance within 2 weeks in early February. W+M gave me a great scholarship offer that I was pretty much set on taking, but this morning I just got an acceptance from BU... So, I need to think things over.

So it's looking more and more like I will be joining some of you in Williamsburg this fall. Also I will be going to the ASW in 2 weeks, who else is coming?

Congrats to all of you who have been accepted.

I read in some thread somewhere that for WM, if you haven't heard back from the school yet it pretty much means rejected or WL. Is this true? sigh

In yest, but I doubt i'll attend unless they throw me some money like GMU. I might see you at the open house. Good luck to those that attend, I have several friends going.

Just thought I'd point out that I have a nifty "Ask a W&M 1L!" thread over in the Discuss Your Law School forum. And I'm glad to hear many of you will be attending the ASW. I'll definitely be at the reception on Friday and maybe some of the events on Saturday.

Did ASW sway anyone into attending? I was there and thought the program was pretty interesting, although meeting current students and faculty is what really sold me. I'll be in Williamsburg this August! I'm so relieved I made my decision! It's such a huge weight off my shoulders to finally know where I'll be for the next 3 years.

I didn't get to go, but I would love to hear what you thought about the program, the people, the town in general...

I went to the ASW and had a really good time. The school is impressive but I wish it was on the undergrad campus.

So, now that we are a mere week away from most seat deposit deadlines (although for us just the statement of intention) who is in for W&M? I sent in my Statement of Intention and some scholly forms that were due by 4/15 this week! It felt really good :D .

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
