Re: Fordham Law School Class of 2012
I'll be up there the week after the 4th, to go apt hunting. As for dorms, the price is very appealing but between the rules and my desire to live alone the first year, I think I'll have to pass. As someone who comes from a Jesuit High School I can attest to how stickler those Jesuits are with their rules.

Re: Fordham Law School Class of 2012
Thanks to everyone who gave me housing suggestions. Astoria is lovely, and I have some good friends raising a son there, but I am used to sacrificing for Manhattan. My current apartment has no living room (my room is almost studio sized, though). It is, however, three blocks from Union Square, and two blocks from Cardozo. I believe I might be closer than their dorm. (I should probably pop over to Cardozo 2012 to see if anyone wants my lease.)
Who else applied for the Stein Scholars, btw? There must be more than three of us.

Oh Silenz, good luck! We had better hurry, though. People are being interviewed as we speak. I know I have no chance, but I seriously can't help myself.silenziatori wrote:I'm most likely going to apply. Like 95 % sure.OperaSoprano wrote:Thanks to everyone who gave me housing suggestions. I'm just happy Fordham has a good number of PI kids in the class of '12/'13.

Don't worry; mine isn't exactly done, either. My macbook picked a most inconvenient time to crash. (Seriously, wtf? I've been using Macs forever with no complaints until now. Does anyone know a good repair place in NYC?)silenziatori wrote:Aaaah, fuck, you guys are killing me here. Alright, I'll get it out by tomorrow. Promise.

I kind of want to start reading for school so I'm looking to buy Introduction to the Study of Law, Third Edition (2009) and found it for $45 on LexisNexis. Has anyone else looked? Any cheaper at other sites?

I ordered Getting to Maybe. I heard it was difficult to read without having started classes.

i'm about 100pgs in so far...i would not say that its necessarly difficult, but they do cite a number of cases and do use some terminology/etc that is probably common knowledge after having taken classes, etcnitsudrx wrote:I ordered Getting to Maybe. i'm just using it as an intro type piece/way to get me in that 'bigger picture legal way' of thinking
but then again, i'm only 100+ pages into it, so maybe when they get into more detail i'll become completely lost

I'm reading Getting to Maybe also. I've decided to skip the entire section about policy, since it did not seem productive to delve into that at this point. On to reading their practical tips.

Is it the '99 edition? Sorry I'm a bit lost. Have no idea what I should be reading.silenziatori wrote:I'm reading Getting to Maybe also. I've decided to skip the entire section about policy, since it did not seem productive to delve into that at this point. On to reading their practical tips.

I have yet to receive any packet yet, but to answer your other question you still need to:tmpcuba wrote:hey. besides paying both of my deposits in a 1000 check and sending in my registration form, is there anything else i need to do? have any of you received something like an orientation packet yet?
1. Send two passport size photos with your name and division (day or evening) on the back to the student affairs office
2. Send your final transcripts in
3. Send in your immunization form to health services.

Re: Fordham Law School Class of 2012
I got this letter. The AEP is a two week preview program for incoming 1L's; like Law Preview, but free. It's "available to an academically diverse group of students and those who come from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the field of law." You learn how to brief a case, time management and note taking, some legal writing, outlining, etc. It begins on July 27.jrock12 wrote:they send everything to my parents house, so i did not yet see this...anything worthwhile?ZXCVBNM wrote:Anyone going to fordham receive the letter about AEP (Academic enrichment program)? I would go if I could, but I won't have my caseload resolved by then, and I can't afford to leave my job so early and be in NYC for three weeks without money. Le sigh.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
