Boy outfits: Concur with Woodbane. Nice striped button down, preferably not wrinkled, and dark denim.
Given the options, I'll take the boy outfit. Short sleeved button down ok or too dorky?
Short sleeved shirts are hard to get right. Take note:

The only acceptable one is #4, unless you are a serious hipster and can pull off #2. #1 = Not recommended.

I just realized I forgot to bring my suit when I moved out of my parents' house, where I was staying for the summer (UGH). Does anyone happen to know if there will be any events during Orientation where a suit is compulsory? If there is, I need to work on getting it here right away. Thanks!

I would say no to the suit. I get that law school orientation is a big deal and requires a bit of nice clothing, but it is still school after all and expecting people to wear a suit for a few orientation events seems like pushing the envelope. I'm more than happy to dress like I'm not a beach bum, but if dressing like a student with a decent fashion sense isn't enough then I suppose Fordham is just going to have to be disappointed.

You make an excellent point. Don't think I could rock that much product, either.

I think what people are wearing to the evening program orientation is probably different than for the day program. I'm sure lots of people came straight from work in their professional clothing. For any of you worried about being underdressed, know there will be at least one person in jeans and a t-shirt.

titcr. day division students will probably be dressed in everyday law student garb.
and while we probably shouldn't get into it here, i think the reedsmith thing was not handled well ite. what if they were to recruit on campus next year? that could be the difference between having a job and not for 2 people.

I gave it a rave, but noted that it won't have lasting consequences. Both parties will parlay, and Reed Smith will likely be back on campus before the class of '12 does OCI. Sweet PR for Fordham in the meantime.

i don't know whether the evening students can answer this, but do we really have to print out all the online material (ie., the legal process handout) or have people just been using their computers? i know this is kinda minor, but i just want to make sure this is something people have been doing so i don't look like an asshole.
actually, come to think of it, i don't have any paper so it doesn't matter either way, heh.

we actually haven't really used the handouts so far. the first real time will be for an assignment due tuesday. it will probably be good to have it in front of you in class that day but if you brief it properly not entirely necessary.

Because it's the nature of relationships. Coming to OCI was beneficial for Reed Smith, or they wouldn't have been doing it in the first place, and it was obviously beneficial to us. I don't believe Dean Treanor would actually run around burning bridges. Getting jobs for all of us is high up on his priority list, and he wouldn't do anything to put us at risk. That's my analysis, anyway.

Here's a handy little link I found while surfing the Fordham site, apparently starting today it should contain a list of first year courses and the professor teaching them, with each course name containing a link to the syllabi and first assignments for each class. Provided it is actually updated when it is supposed to be, it could be very helpful.
Also, thanks for the peptalk OS.

This is really useful. Thanks Woodbane.
I also think this talk of dress code is hilarious. Yes, we should look nice, but we don't need to look identical. What we wore during orientation won't matter in ten or fifteen years.
Edit: Good luck to everyone today!

I need some advice from fellow PT'ers...I have a family event tonight that I shouldn't miss, but it conflicts with Legal Practice. Did anyone take this class on Thursday? If so, what was it about? Would I be missing anything critical???
