What's up everyone. It looks like I'll be at Hofstra too in the fall. I'm in the middle of choosing between Hofstra and Pace University offered me a scholarship. Does anyone know about the reputation for their litigation, or contract law programs?

I particularly cared for the guy who spoke on malpractice..but then again that is the field I am most interested in. Otherwise it was good...hopefully the job market gets better in 3 years.
I really enjoyed it! I will be attending in the fall...anyone else??

For those of you from out of town, do not move to hempstead if you are not in the dorms. Hempstead/Uniondale is not a very nice area.

Just accepted my scholly and sent my deposit. Did I miss anything at the ASD? I went to an open house, I was hoping it was similar stuff..

I doubt you missed much if you missed ASD. It was pretty general.

I thought the Malpractice speaker was good. Didn't like that one speaker was late. Also, I got the impression that the 3L speaker doesn't have a job lined up yet... "plans to pursue a career in..."

Otherwise it seems like a proud school.

I got the book too! Still waiting for the T-shirt! Hey, does anyone see Hofstra's rankings going up in the next few years?

I will be joining hofstra this fall (and yes I did receive the t-shirt and the book). I received a scholarship from NYLS and Hofstra so it was between those two schools for me. Although NYLS has a better location, it would have been distracting for me personally, especially since I would have been commuting from home.
Hofstra should be a good experience and, in a worst case scenario, I can always transfer out.

Where are you guys all thinking of living? On campus? In Hempstead? Further out in Queens? Commuting from Manhattan?

Was just looking at some places in Queens and got totally freaked at how residential/desolate it seemed... but I've heard Hempstead isn't the nicest and I'd rather not live on campus.

What are you guys all thinking?

You could actually be ok living in any of the surrounding cities on the islan (massapequa, amityville, hicksville, etc...) Even with traffic youd be, at most, a 30 min drive from campus. So dont be afraid to diversify your search a bit.

Hey! I'm also going to Hofstra this fall. I will be staying on campus at least this first semester, because I won't have a car and I can't move to NY 'till August so I won't have time to get to know the place and look around.
