Yeah, I am in. Trying to find out as much as I can about housing, etc. Also, in at Seton Hall but Hofstra is giving me a scholarship so it seems like a no brainer. Congrats, and let me know your thoughts if you are familar with the school, housing, etc. Steve

im still waiting to hear back from the rest of my schools, but it looks like ill be at Hofstra as of now.

i'd like to know more about housing options too (specifically off-campus...i hear the dorms are horrible). i won't be having a car, so ill probably have to stay within walking distance of the school.

Hello from one more possible Hofstra '12 classmate. I agree with a lot of what I've been reading. On campus housing was pretty weak and the scholarship definitely tends to go a long way towards my accepting the offer.

Hofstra seems to have a well developed litigation tradition but has anyone heard about the corporate courses or training?

haven't heard directly about the courses but here's a site with their course listing, including a breakdown for commercial/corporate law

I have only heard people say bad things about the school. Anyone else have any doubts about Hofstra?

The fact of the matter is most T2 schools will be heavily panned on this website... TLS.com is afterall a site for students vying for admission in the top law schools in the country, however (and unfortunately) there is no other real resource or meeting place for students who are not going to those top 20 or so schools.

I understand to some extent the disdain for schools that don't have the prestigious names;law school is about getting a job after graduation. Facts prove you have a better chance of getting a good job (read high paying job) by going to one of those prestigious schools.

In the end Hofstra is a school that can be GOOD FOR YOU if you understand what you want, and are motivated to do well. The price of tuition is high, and it's located in a saturated market however if you work hard, rub elbows, and have a little luck you'll afford yourself the opportunity to get a solid legal education and lead a gratifying life.

jhandin wrote:Hi everyone! It's a 50/50 toss-up right now for me going to Hofstra. I'm looking for a summer job and place to live in Hempstead.

I've found a bunch of nice 3-4 bedroom houses a few minutes from campus and looking for roommates. I'm hoping to move up there middle to end of May so I can get accustomed to the town and campus over the summer.

If anyone is thinking of going to Hofstra and looking for other 1L roommates, please let me know. We can figure it out.

Thanks!
I might go to hofstra, haven't decided yet. In looking for roommates I would like to set up a phone screening interview..and possible a few in person interviews. Of course, all is contingent upon a thorough background check and drug test.

jk.

btw, did anyone get their t-shirts yet?

I am also considering Hofstra. I will be attending ASD and will hopefully make a decision after that. Have some reservations about going to law school in Long Island...

When is asd? I got accepted, but haven't gotten any emails.

Also does anyone else think the $850 seat deposit is ridiculous?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
