Do it!

Have you written a LOCI yet? Sent additional references? Flowers? Live lobster? A singing midget?

Must be, 7 days isn't a bad turn-around time to get off of a hold list. Maybe it was the lobster.

Not sure. I am visiting on May 20th to look at potential places. The online information helps, but I want to see it in person. Does anyone know which apartment complex is closest to the law building?

Yay I just found out my apartment application was approved!

It's such a nice feeling knowing I won't be squatting in the library for the year.

Added to time spent in classes, that's about 6 hours a day outside the library.

Is anyone considering living in one of the new condo complexes over in Coralville? (the ones with balconies and underground parking)

As much as I would like to live in the quaint areas of downtown, the underground garaged parking is starting to appeal to me--no digging out cars in the winter....

Any 1Ls have any thoughts to share? 0Ls who want to find a 2/3 bedroom with me? :)

The consensus seems to be that it is unwise to live with other law students at least for the first year. However, in your situation, the consensus might be stupid.

Can anyone tell me/point me in the right direction of what classes we take our first semester? I know what classes we will cover our first year but I don't know how they are separated.

wait why? i mean, yea its a stressful year, but the other options are living with unknown people who possibly party all the time or living by yourself... is the consensus then that the potential isolation is the better choice than living with another 1L?

Does anyone know if we are going to be assigned into groups within our sections?
It would be nice if there was a "team leader" 3L student that could supervise us and help us through our first year. I know this is done at some schools and I was wondering if there's such a system in place at U Iowa???

I have not heard of that at Iowa. I think this is generally done to help with Legal Writing and Research classes. The 3L provides feedback on your appellate brief. I am not sure if they're really team leaders. Otherwise, it sounds like hand holding and I'm not sure we need it. I think they want us to struggle but also to succeed. If that is the case, they will provide just enough support for us to succeed on our own.

Did everyone get a letter from U of Iowa talking about your experience and how it perfectly fits some clinic/research center or other opportunity?

Did it feel like they were trying to sell you the school at the same time as they told you no on the scholarship front?

<3 Iowa but just come out with it.

I received no such letter. Dean Byrd probably saw my name, shuddered, and went on to the next name on the list.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
